Home Renovation: Kitchen.

Last year we went through a MAJOR (and somewhat painful) Home Renovation. I say painful because I felt like every step of the way, we ran into issues and annoyances, no one said it would be easy but no one prepared us for just how hard it would be either.
However, I am SO glad that we did it before getting pregnant and really happy with how everything turned out! So today I am sharing the biggest transformation from the old house (aside from the entire house doubling in size) our kitchen. We went from dark cherry cabinets, red walls and no storage space to a bright, airy kitchen that I absolutely ADORE!
Holy CLUTTER! It is AMAZING what taking the cabinets to the ceiling will do for the look of a room, the ceiling height in the “old” house did not change from 8 ft. (the addition has 9 ft. ceilings) but the taller white cabinets, subway tile and hood just draws your eyes up and gives the illusion of tall ceilings! You also gain more storage up top!
When we built our original tiny house in 2007, I had to have the garden window – WHY? It was hard to clean, not great for natural light and honestly you guys, my house is where plants come to die and that is the sad truth. My green thumb is non-existent… SO thankful for beautiful faux florals! We ditched that for a window that now swings open to the deck and lets in so much more light!

The wall on the right is where the addition begins. We had a big beautiful island installed (which is where the microwave now lives), upgraded all of the appliances, lighting and added a pantry with a BEAUTIFUL custom door – the perfect final touch! The amount of storage space I have now is unreal – keeps my countertops clutter free which keeps me very happy!

A kitchen we love to cook in, host in and soon feed our baby girl in…
