Favorite Eats of 2017.

Last year was full of AMAZING food so this list was pretty hard to come up with… From Virginia to New York to New Orleans and everywhere in between, in no particular order, here are my favorite eats of 2017…

Beef Bulgogi Tacos

Wong Gonzalez | Richmond, VA

Wong Gonzalez is a Mexican/Chinese fusion restaurant or “Mexinese” as they like to call it. These Beef Bulgogi tacos were awesome — paired oh-so well with their Margarita!

Ahi Tuna Sandwich

Carwash Cafe | Kilmarnock, VA

So we eat here fairly often and it’s always good but it wasn’t until last year that I tried their Ahi Tuna Sandwich (why did I wait so long?!) The wasabi mayo is the perfect addition – order it medium rare with shoestring fries — YUM.

Muffuletta

Central Grocery | New Orleans, LA

This is the Muffuletta and Central Grocery is where it was created. Made with fresh baked bread, thinly sliced Italian meats, provolone cheese and their house made Olive Salad (that I could literally eat with a spoon) and you have this beauty. Bring a few friends to share it with.

Croque Madame

Blue Talon Bistro | Williamsburg, VA

I’ve always been a fan of the Croque Madame but Blue Talon Bistro stepped it up a notch. This drool worthy French style Ham & Swiss is topped with a cream sauce and fried egg and you should totally go get one.

Surfs Up Tuna Po Boy

Bros Sandwich Shack | Avon, NC

Bros serves up a twist on the classic Po Boy with Atlantic Yellowfin Tuna on a Hoagie roll with Fresh Slaw and Wasabi Ranch – paired with my favorite beer and it was a match made in heaven.

Earl Grey & Lemon Poppyseed Ice Cream

Charm School | Richmond, VA

Over the summer I had a girls day in Richmond and we all ended up going to Charm School for the first time. This school-themed ice cream parlor has such a great vibe! I tried two scoops – one Earl Grey and one Lemmon Poppyseed, so delicious and refreshing on a hot day!

Sushi

Chao Phraya | Kilmarnock, VA

I have tried (and loved) so many of their sushi rolls, I couldn’t tell you just one! Chao Phraya has an upscale vibe with exposed brick walls and a wonderful outdoor patio for summer. It’s so nice to have a sushi restaurant in the area!

Beignets

Café du Monde | New Orleans, LA

This New Orleans staple remains on the top of any travel guide you read for good reason… they’re DELICIOUS! Who knew deep fried dough could be so great? I will learn to make these…

Brooklyn Blackout Cupcake

Little Cupcake Bakeshop | New York City

I was introduced to this delectable little creation during a Foods of NY tour of Nolita (which I HIGHLY recommend to anyone visiting the city – they’re so fun and you get to discover new restaurants and foods!) This is chocolate cake filled with chocolate ganache and topped with chocolate buttercream. Amen.

Southern Fried Chicken Skins

Husk | Charleston, SC

These bad boys earned their spot as the only appetizer on the list for good reason – they’re a rich, savory and ridiculously good; topped with pimento ranch and they’re exactly why we refuse diets while on vacation!

This post has made me SO hungry – I don’t know how I’m supposed to top those in 2018 but I’m certainly going to try!
